Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe & Afternoon Birding at UWEC
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy your first birding session at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), where you may encounter species such as the African Fish Eagle, Marabou Stork, Hadada Ibis, Hammerkop, and Yellow-billed Duck.
Day 2: Morning Botanical Gardens Birding & Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Start the day with a peaceful walk through Entebbe Botanical Gardens, spotting stunning species like the Great Blue Turaco, African Grey Parrot, Black-and-white Casqued Hornbill, and more. After your morning session, embark on a scenic drive to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park known for its unique blend of woodland and water habitats.
Day 3: Boat Cruise on Lake Mburo & Afternoon Birding in the Park
Enjoy a serene morning boat cruise on Lake Mburo, a haven for aquatic birds including the elusive African Finfoot, Pied Kingfisher, and African Fish Eagle. In the afternoon, explore the park further on foot or by vehicle, spotting terrestrial and savannah species such as the Red-faced Barbet, Green Wood-hoopoe, and Bare-faced Go-away-bird.
Day 4: Transfer to Semuliki Forest National Park & Evening Birding
Today, head west through Uganda’s scenic countryside en route to Semuliki Forest National Park. In the evening, delve into the forest for an atmospheric birding session—possible highlights include the Nkulengu Rail, White-throated Blue Swallow, and Yellow-throated Cuckoo.
Day 5: Bird Watching & Game Drive in Semuliki National Park
Spend the day exploring Semuliki’s lowland tropical forest—a unique habitat for rare bird species. Highlights may include sightings of the Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, African Grey Hornbill, White-cheeked Turaco, and other Albertine Rift endemics. Both morning and afternoon sessions will be dedicated to birding across various trails and terrains.
Day 6: Morning Birding & Return to Entebbe or Kampala
Enjoy a final birding walk through Semuliki in search of any missed species. Afterward, begin your journey back to Entebbe or Kampala, with birding opportunities along the way and a stop at the Equator line for photographs and souvenirs. Your birding journey ends with unforgettable memories of Uganda’s vibrant birdlife.
