6 Days 5 Nights Itinerary
Day 1 :Arrival at Mikumi National Park:
7:00 am – Your driver guide shall pick you up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam or at Dar Es Salaam Airport and leave for Mikumi National park from Dar Es Salaam. Mikumi is nestled between the Uluguru Mountains to the East and the Rift Valley Escarpments to the Southwest. It is close to the Selous ecosystem and is therefore part of it. It benefits from the highest game density of the entire conservation area. The Mikumi National Park obtains a good impression of the African animal world and is suitable very well for a short visit. After arrival at Mikumi National Park you go for game drive around the park. The travel time/distance is approximately (4 Hrs / 309 kms). 7:30 pm – Dinner and overnight in Mikumi
Day 2: Drive to Selous Game Reserve from Mikumi:
7:00 am –Breakfast 8:00 am – Drive to Selous Game reserve named after the explorer Frederick Selous. The Selous Game Reserve is the largest protected wildlife reserve, a UN World Heritage site and a pristine uninhabited area larger than Switzerland. The topography of the park is from rolling savannah woodland to grassland plain and rocky outcrops cut by the Rufiji River and its tributaries. Activities for the day are Game Drive until lunch time. After lunch go for Boat Safaris along the Rufiji River until evening 7:30 pm – Dinner and overnight in Selous
Day 3 : Full day in Selous Game Reserve:
7:00 am – Breakfast 8:00 am – Full day Game Drive in the Selous Game Reserve with an evening walking Safaris 7:30 pm – Dinner and overnight in Selous
Day 4: Drive to Ruaha National Park from Selous:
6:00 am – Breakfast 7:00 am – Drive to Ruaha National Park 7:30 pm – Dinner and overnight in Ruaha
Day 5 : Full day at Ruaha National Park:
7:00 am – Breakfast 8:00 am – Full day Game Drive and walking Safaris with lunch/picnic lunch at Ruaha National Park one of Tanzania’s best kept wildlife secrets. Previous inaccessibility made it unaffected by the ravages of mankind. It is Tanzania’s biggest elephant sanctuary and location of the Great Ruaha River flowing along its eastern border creating spectacular gorges. The Ruaha National park is home to hippos and crocodiles, waterbucks, reedbucks, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hyenas, wild dogs, jackals and many elephants. Best time to visit is the dry season from May to December where animals are concentrated around the shrinking water courses. Activities consist of game drive and walking through in the dense bush with an armed ranger. 7:30 pm – Dinner and overnight in Ruaha
Day 6 : Drive back to Dar-es-Salaam:
7:00 am – Breakfast 8:00 am – Half day Game drive with lunch/picnic lunch 1:00 pm – After lunch you will be transferred to Msembe Airstrip to catch your flight back to Dar-es-Salaam.
