6 Days 5 Nights Safari to Selous, Mikumi, Ruaha

Day 1 :Drive from Dar-es-Salaam to Selous Game Reserve:

7:30 am – Your driver guide picks you up from your hotel in Dar-es-Salaam or airport and drive to Selous Game Reserve. You shall reach Selous in the afternoon. Upon your arrival you shall check in at your lodge, have your lunch, after lunch go for a boat Safari until late evening along the Rufiji River where you shall get to see crocodiles, hippos. You can also see some game grazing along the river. The travel time/distance is approximately (6-7Hrs / 1,575 kms) 7:30 pm – Dinner and overnight in Selous

Day 2: Full day at Selous Game Reserve:

7:00 am – Breakfast 8:00 am – Full day Game drive at Selous Game Reserve. Selous Game Reserve is named after the explorer Frederick Selous and it is the largest protected wildlife reserve and a UN World Heritage site and a pristine uninhabited area larger than Switzerland. The topography of the park varies from rolling savannah woodland, grassland plain and rocky outcrops cut by the Rufiji River and its tributaries. The park is famous for boat Safaris and walking Safaris in the bush accompanied by an armed ranger or Maasai guide 7:30 pm – Dinner and overnight in Selous

Day 3 : Drive to Mikumi National Park from Selous:

7:00 am – Breakfast 8:00 am – Drive to Mikumi National Park in time for lunch. After lunch you shall have a full day Game Drive. Mikumi is nestled between the Uluguru Mountains to the East and the Rift Valley Escarpments to the Southwest. It is close to the Selous ecosystem and is therefore part of it. It benefits from the highest game density of the entire conservation area. The Mikumi National Park obtains a good impression of the African animal world and is suitable very well for a short visit. 7:30 pm – Dinner and overnight in Mikumi

Day 4 :Drive to Ruaha National Park from Mikumi:

6:00 am – Early morning Game Drive 7:00 am – Breakfast 8:00 am – Drive to Ruaha National Park with picnic lunch. The travel time/distance is approximately (5Hrs / 430 kms) 7:00 pm – Dinner and overnight in Ruaha

Day 5 : Full day at Ruaha National Park:

7:00 am – Breakfast 8:00 am – Full day Game Drives and walking Safaris at Ruaha National Park one of Tanzania’s best kept wildlife secrets. Previous inaccessibility made it unaffected by the ravages of mankind. It is Tanzania’s biggest elephant sanctuary and location of the Great Ruaha River flowing along its eastern border creating spectacular gorges. The Ruaha National park is home to hippo and crocodile, waterbuck, reedbuck, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hyenas, wild dogs, jackals and many elephants. Best time to visit is the dry season from May to December where animals are concentrated around the shrinking water courses. Activities consist of game drive and walking Safaris in the beautiful scenery and dense bush with an armed ranger 7:30 pm – Dinner and overnight in Ruaha

Day 6 : Arrive in Dar-es-Salaam:

7:00 am – Breakfast 8:00 am – Half day Game Drive at Ruaha National Park with picnic lunch 12:30 pm – Your driver guide will take you to Msembe airstrip for your flight back to Dar-es-Salaam 1:45 pm – After lunch fly back to Dar-es-Salaam 4:30 pm – Arrive in Dar-es-Salaam. Flight time (3 hours)
